University of Denver head women’s volleyball coach Megan Pendergast has signed a multi-year contract extension to continue to lead DU’s volleyball program, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations Josh Berlo announced on Thursday.
“Megan has done an excellent job building a volleyball program into one this institution can be proud of,” Berlo said. “She has the program poised for success in the West Coast Conference. Megan has worked tirelessly on a culture that has established a strong foundation for multi-disciplinary excellence. The future of Denver volleyball is bright, and I look forward to watching this program continue to grow under Megan’s leadership this season and beyond.”
Pendergast is in her fourth season in charge of the Pioneers, holding a 52-44 record overall, including an impressive 28-8 mark in Hamilton Gymnasium. In her first three seasons with the program, Pendergast and the Pios had 12 All-Summit League selections, a Summit League regular season title and a five-set win at Arkansas last season, the program’s first road win against a high major program in four years and the first win against an SEC team since 2008.
“I’m grateful to Chancellor Jeremy Haefner and Athletic Director Josh Berlo for the opportunity to continue to lead Denver Volleyball,” Pendergast said. “It’s an honor to be a Pio and to coach the young women in this program as we take on the challenge ahead in the West Coast Conference.”
Denver is off to an 8-6 start in 2026, including a 5-1 record in the newly renovated Hamilton Gymnasium. The volleyball program earned a little piece of University of Denver history last Thursday (September 24) with its sweep of Pacific, the first West Coast Conference win for the athletic department after the conference transition this summer.
