Mount St. Mary’s head women’s basketball coach Antoine White added to his 2021-22 coaching staff with Dave Scarborough joining the Mount as Assistant Coach.
Scarborough is familiar with the Northeast Conference after working the past five years at Sacred Heart. Working on coach Jessica Mannetti’s staff, the Pioneers were perennial NEC contenders under his watch, making the conference tournament four out of his five years there. SHU missed out on this year’s tournament only because the field was shortened by half due to the pandemic, making the Pioneers the first team on the outside looking in.
While in Fairfield, Scarborough worked with the post players, and assisted in scheduling, recruiting, and scouting. His expertise will help as the Mount brings in three new post players – graduate transfer Tess Borgosz and true freshmen Abby Bailey and Maddie McCrea. Sophomore Isabella Hunt is the lone primary forward returning from last year’s team.
The Mount is his third NEC team, as he served as the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations for Robert Morris. The Colonials made two NCAA Tournament appearances in his tenure working under the direction of Andrew Toole.
Stops in Scarborough’s coaching career include three years as an assistant for Saint Peter’s out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, a stint as the Operations and Video Coordinator for Pittsburgh women’s basketball and an assistant coach for Division III La Roche College in 2008.
He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009 with a degree in sports management, Magna Cum Laude and a Presidential Scholar. In 2012, he completed his second degree from CUP – this time with a Master of Science in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration.
Scarborough joins Julie Kaufman and Kelsey Funderburgh, who are returning from last year’s staff.
Coming off a 17-7 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, Mount women’s basketball begins its quest to repeat in November.
