USF women’s basketball head coach Jose Fernandez today announced the promotion of Michele Woods-Baxter to associate head coach.
“Michele has been a very big part of the success we have achieved in our program over the last 10 years and I am very pleased to elevate her to associate head coach,” Fernandez said. “She is tremendous working with our players both on and off the floor, and has been an integral part of our success in recruiting. This is a well-deserved promotion and I am very happy for Michele.”
Woods-Baxter, who is entering her 11thseason with the program, came to USF in 2008 as an assistant coach and was elevated to associate coach in 2013. She has been a major part of seven 20-win seasons, nine postseason appearances and five NCAA Tournament appearances with the Bulls.
Responsible for working with the Bulls’ wings, Baxter-Woods has been a vital part of USF’s player development, including work with Courtney Williams, the program’s first all-American, and recent all-America honorees Kitija Laksa and Maria Jespersen. She is also a key part of the Bulls’ international recruiting efforts, helping to bring in six five-star international recruits since 2014.
